Bella Boats to Bellagio!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kempinski Hotel in St. Moritz. Brock suggested that I include the following photo that he is proud of having taken, in the blog:

Here is a photo of the front of the hotel:

We were sorry to leave St. Moritz.

We were surprised to discover that the hotel is directly across the street from the gondola for the St. Moritz ski resort. Note that Audi Quattro has sponsored the gondola!

It was an overcast day, and we drove into some very dense fog. We descended, descended, descended down hairpin turns until we reached the border with Italy. There were a few border guards out with machine guns (which was a different experience from the unmanned borders in Switzerland), but we still didn't have to stop.
We used our navigation system to find Bellagio. It guided us through maybe 10 long tunnels. Then in Varenna, much to our surprise, the navigation system guided us to a ferry terminal. The message was obvious: the quickest way to Bellagio was via car ferry! We didn't have to wait long for the next ferry. It was a quick 5-10 minute ride from Varenna to Bellagio!
Here is a shot of Varenna as we departed on the ferry:

Here is a shot of another ferry boat similar to the one we were riding on:

Bella enjoyed her first boat ride!

Taken from the ferry - it was flying!

Approaching Bellagio:

Once in Bellagio, we used our navigation system to guide us to our hotel, the Borgo Le Terrazze. We drove some narrow, windy, steep streets meant for 2-way traffic that only one car can pass through at a time! But Bella made it safely.
Here is a shot of our room overlooking Lake Como:

We drove into town to check it out quickly, and here is what the center of town looks like:

Very romantic! We found a place that sold pizza, and we ordered some pizza and lasagna to go. We took it back to our room and enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner while listening to the Titans get slaughtered by the Texans. That part was not so enjoyable. But to feel better, we would walk out on our porch and enjoy the view of the lights of Menaggio, just across the lake from us.
Today we plan to get some exercise by walking around town and shopping. It's not very safe to just walk around the streets near our hotel. They don't exactly have bike lanes!
