Travel Day, Copenhagen to Reykjavik

We've had a busy several days, and I'm just now getting back to the blog.

After our day in Helsinki, which was Friday, May 25, we had a full day at sea, which was Saturday, May 26. On that day, we enjoyed a piano concert in the afternoon by David Benoit and Keiko Matsui. Then in the evening we had a concert by vocalist Deniece Williams and guitarist Peter White. This concert was lightly attended, because everyone was having to pack and get ready to disembark in the morning.

We thoroughly enjoyed all the music on the ship, but we felt like the shore excursions were rushed. We got only a cursory exposure to the cities we visited. We were certainly blessed with beautiful, sunny, reasonably warm weather for the duration of the cruise! The seas were so calm, due to the great weather, that we could never tell we were on a ship. We did not need our patches to protect us from sea-sickness.

On Sunday, May 27, the ship arrived back in Copenhagen. We got up early, had our breakfast, and got our own baggage off the ship ourselves. We met up with John and Becca and we all got a taxi together to the airport. Our WOW Air flight, in the fuchsia plane, departed Copenhagen at 12:35 p.m. and arrived in Reykjavik, Iceland, at 2:00 p.m., a 3-1/2 hour flight.

We rented a full-size SUV, and it took us an hour to drive from the airport, through Reykjavik, to our hotel, the Hotel Laxnes, in Mosfellsbaer, north of Reykjavik.

Unfortunately, one of Brock's bags did not arrive with us on the flight. We crossed our fingers that it will arrive with the next flight in tomorrow.

We were tired from traveling, so we unpacked and searched for a place to eat close to our hotel. We tried unsuccessfully to find a new restaurant in the same town as our hotel, so we ended up at "Le Kock" - a casual restaurant where we had some excellent hamburgers. We went to bed early so that we would be ready to explore Iceland on Monday.
