Snowing in Kitzbuhel!

Today we awoke to a cloudy, rainy day in Munich. We had a quick workout and a quick bite to eat, packed up our car and headed towards our first ski destination: Kitzbuhel, Austria. Brock has skied there before as a younger adult, but I have not skied at all in Europe.

As we got closer to Austria, the rain turned to snow. The highways were clogged with people in cars like ours, and it appeared that everyone had the same idea as we did. Here it was a Saturday, and snowing, and we understand that there has not been any significant snow here since November! So everyone was driving to the Alps to ski. The drive took us 3 hours, which we understand is twice as long as it should have taken.

Well, it was all worth the wait. Our hotel, the A-Rosa Kitzbuhel, is quite a jewel! It sits like a castle on the hills above Kitzbuhel. Our room is spacious and luxurious, with two balconies overlooking the back of the hotel and what is a golf course in the summertime. We have plenty of closet space for all of our clothes. There is a fantastic ski room - every room in the hotel gets a locker to keep ski equipment in, complete with boot and mitten dryers in each locker! There is a luxurious spa: fitness center, pool, and treatment area. The pool looks like a Roman bath, and you can swim from inside to outside. And the meals are amazing! We are delighted with our choice!

We took a shuttle ride into the center of town to find lunch and do some shopping. When we were ready to leave, we met these new friends, Bianca and Nadia:

We got back to the hotel by taking a carriage ride with Bianca and Nadia!

This is what our hotel looks like as you approach:

Unfortunately it's too warm to skate on the pond, or we would.

Below is what the hotel's bar area looks like. It's very inviting!

Here are some images of the town of Kitzbuhel on a snowy day:

I really liked this photo Brock took of the staircase in a compact shopping area called "Galleria" that has at least 6 floors:

Since I shared so many photos of cars yesterday from the BMW Museum, I thought I should include a photo of our "wheels" for the next 2 months, our rented VW Passat. We have not named the car yet.

Tomorrow we'll have our first day of skiing in Kitzbuhel, and it should be pretty good since it was snowing today!

Tomorrow is also the showdown in Kansas City - Titans v. Chiefs! We are working on a way to watch the game here. We've got our fingers crossed for the Titans. GO TITANS!!!
