Listen to the Universe

The Arlberg ski area has its own "Sellaronda" called the "White Ring" (Weiss Ring) which is based out of Lech. We got fired up about doing that on Saturday.

There were two flaws to our plan. First, we planned to do it on a Saturday in February, probably the most crowded time possible. Second, we got started too late.

The drive from St. Anton to Lech is only about 30 min., and along the way you pass other small villages that are part of the Arlberg ski area. There are digital signs along the way that indicate the various areas, and if parking is available there is a green check mark next to them, and if all the parking is gone, there is a red 'x' next to them. As we went along we noticed more and more cars on the road, and more and more red 'x's. Finally, when we got to Lech around 10:00 a.m., it was an absolute zoo, with no parking available. We hunted around a little bit, gave up, turned around and drove right back to our hotel. We knew we would find a parking spot there!

This lack of parking appears to be acceptable to Europeans; no one was surprised when we told them about this. In Vail, you may have to pay $60 for it, but there is plenty of parking available for anyone who wants to ski there.

It was time to listen to the universe. Even if we had found a parking spot in Lech, there would have been long lines at all the lifts we needed, and we may not have been able to complete the White Ring any way. It just was going to be a frustrating ski day.

Rather than deal with the rude skiers in St. Anton, we decided not to ski. Instead, we had another good lunch at Dolce Vita.

Then we spent another relaxing spa day at our hotel. And it was wonderful!

We took full advantage of all the amenities at our hotel. The hotel was just fantastic!

We found the rules to the adult sauna quite interesting. My favorite was the "no staring" rule, but Brock preferred the "no scratching your ass" rule.
