Tour de Chairs, Andorra Style
When we woke up on Wednesday, we noticed that we could see the moon along with the sunrise!

We got a nice, early start on our skiing today, and it was a bluebird day, so it was the right day for us to explore the interconnected resort we are skiing. By 9:30 we were skiing and on our way to the Pas de la Casa sector.
At the top of the first gondola, there was a family with several strollers. They were preparing themselves and a young child to ski:

We had to laugh, because, at every place we've skied in Europe, imagine the hardest possible place to reach, the place at the very top of the resort. Even if you have to take a chair lift to get there, regardless of the weather, if there is a restaurant there, you will find someone with a stroller. Guaranteed. Every time!

On our way, we passed two other sectors, Peretol and Grau Roig.
I took a liking to this wedge-shaped mountain:

There was beauty everywhere we looked. Here are a few of our favorite photos from today:

Once we arrived at the top of Pas de la Casa, we could see down into the town below.

This was the site of the bottleneck we could not get beyond on Saturday.
There was a nice building at the top that housed an outdoor bar and an indoor restaurant. We stopped there for a break.

The restaurant had amazing views!

Some tables in the restaurant featured maps of the resort:

There was a cute sign that indicated the altitude of the mountains around us:

After our break, we skied back to Soldeu for lunch. We skied for 3-1/2 hours and skied 16,123 vertical feet. We used 12 lifts, and it was a true "Tour de Chairs"!

It got up to about 60 degrees today! The snow was starting to get really soft and sticky, but we made it back safely. The hardest slope we skied was the one under the gondola that leads back to the Soldeu base.
We think this gondola building is really interesting and well constructed; it's integrated with a parking garage. You can also see the outdoor deck of our lunch spot in the photo. There were tons of people taking advantage of that outdoor deck today!

That's all the news for today. We have one more day to spend in Andorra before we head back to Barcelona.
