Next Port: Enkhuizen

We totally enjoyed our room in Naarden. We occupied the spacious third floor of a house on the edge of town that was a short walk to many dining options. What we liked most, besides having air conditioning, was the adjustable bed! We were able to adjust the top and bottom of the mattress (like a Tempurpedic mattress)! It was similar to our bed in Arizona. It was very comfortable, and we slept like babies. We also enjoyed our breakfast!

A taxi was waiting for us at 8:45 a.m., so we were back at the Muiden marina and ready to go earlier than we expected. We left the marina at 9:30 a.m.

It was a VERY hot, humid day for the Netherlands, with very little wind. So we had to motor all day. I spent most of the day in the cabin of the boat, since it was cooler and less buggy there. Therefore I did not take many photos. I did capture this photo of a distinctive lighthouse that we passed:

It was Wednesday, August 24, and our destination was Enkhuizen. It took us 6 sweaty hours to get there. We went through a lock at the end, and then a quick motor into the marina. I do need to mention that we dropped about 6 inches in the lock!!! (Why bother??) Brock took these photos at the marina:

He liked this large blue sailboat on the end:

If you like looking at boats, then you're in "doggy heaven" in the Netherlands!

On the way to our hotel, the Hotel de Koepoort, we passed this interesting bar:

Our hotel was a mile from the marina, so it took us about 25 minutes to walk there, pulling our luggage. Once there, I went back out in search of t-shirts to wear tomorrow, but I had to walk almost the whole way back to the marina before I could find anything! This town is not nearly as touristy as Volendam was. We could have found what I was looking for in one minute of searching there. But I did find us some nice things at the ship's store. Then I walked all the way back to the hotel. So I managed to get quite a bit of walking in. I was a sweaty mess by the end though, so a shower felt really good. Once again, we were blessed with air conditioning, which was really appreciated.

We met Marius and Anne-Marie for dinner at a Tapas restaurant, about a 10 minute walk from our hotel, and that was pretty fun.

We have decided to cut the sailing trip short by one day. Thunderstorms are expected starting on Thursday night and going into Friday. This suits us just fine. So our destination on Thursday will be back to Hoorn. We have rebooked the Heavens Hotel for Thursday night. So we will enjoy a leisurely visit back in Hoorn before we return to the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on Friday in preparation for flying back to the United States on Saturday.

That's all I have for now.
