Saturday, August 5 - At Sea

On Saturday, August 5, we were at sea. Just after we woke up, we started feeling swells from being in open water instead of the inside passage. We had a room service breakfast.

Here are some of the lighthouses and mystic scenes we passed:

It was nice being in sight of land most of the time.

We enjoyed stretching in the fitness center and using the wet area in the spa: a pool with water jets that pull against you, hot tub, steam room, snow room (complete with snow), cold water bucket (to douse over your head), and in the men's and women's locker rooms: a sauna and an ice pool.

We had a nice lunch at "The Restaurant" which ended up being our favorite place on the ship to eat for lunch and dinner. There were several choices on the menu, and the menu was different every day and for every meal. It was delicious! On this day we ordered Halibut.

Chocolate Cherry Pie for dessert at lunch:

We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned to "The Restaurant" for dinner and met our favorite waiter (Cleo from Zimbabwe) and wine steward (Nenad from Serbia). I enjoyed a delicious meal of cream of pumpkin soup, ceviche, and chocolate soufflé.

Here are some of Nenad's recommendations:

We happened upon a full-scale model of the Viking Saturn:

According to the tag, the ship was commissioned in April of 2023 and holds 946 passenger!

More fun on the balcony:

Our next stop would be Narvik. Good-bye until tomorrow!
